What are ethically made products?
Ethically made products are products that are made with organic, environmentally friendly, cruelty free or recycled materials and/or made with fair trade practices. Ethically-made products help in minimizing social and/or environmental damage and are contributing to providing a sustainable and improved livelihood for artisans and craft producers.
Are your products ethically made?
All products at Shopanthropic are ethically made. The majority of our products have environmentally friendly components such as natural cotton, recycled textile, recycled metal, and tree-free paper. Most of our clutches, wallets & bags, our home decor pieces/cushion covers, and many of our clothing pieces are coloured with eco-friendly natural dyes that are sourced from plants, invertebrates, or minerals. Our leather products are made using cruelty-free leather (leather that comes from the animals that died naturally) and the paper used in our journal has been created with pulp made by recycled scraps of waste cotton collected from the textile industries and no wood is used to make this paper, making our journals 100% tree-free. We also carry fair trade products that are made by artisans in a safe and healthy work environment. Every product at Shopanthropic is contributing to making a change of some sort somewhere around the world.
Are your products handcrafted?
Most of the products in our collection are handcrafted by artisans and in most cases made using traditional art forms. This is outlined in the description of each product on our website. We are proud to support thousands of artisans through social development organizations, mostly in India, who have their own unique stories while working to preserve their traditional art forms through their creations. You can get more details in our Working with Artisans section.
We strive for perfection but recognize that perfection is a myth. Slight variations and irregularities can exist and should be embraced. Our products are handcrafted by artisans using both traditional as well as new techniques and made using recycled materials and natural dyes. These irregularities are not defects; rather they are a reminder of the change we are creating by enabling artisans to building micro-businesses and reducing the impact we have on our environment.
